WHOOP is a screenless band you wear all day and night, sold as a yearly membership with the hardware included. The app turns the band's data into sleep, strain and recovery scores, has an AI coach called WHOOP Coach, and on higher tiers adds Healthspan, an ECG and blood pressure insights. Advanced Labs adds blood tests at Quest, reviewed by clinicians, at extra cost.
Emerge Care is built around symptoms, side effects and doctor visits rather than training and recovery: you tell it how you feel, it keeps the log on your iPhone, answers with named sources, and builds a one-page summary for your next appointment. It needs no band.
Choose WHOOP if
You want a dedicated band that tracks sleep, strain and recovery around the clock, an AI coach built on that data, an ECG on the Life tier, and blood tests ordered through the same app.
Choose Emerge Care if
You want help with how you feel and with your doctor visits: a symptom and side-effect log you fill in by talking, sourced answers, a visit summary and an after-visit routine, without buying a wearable.

An ECG with AFib notifications and blood pressure insights on the Life tier. Emerge Care has no medical device features.

Android as well as iPhone, and more app languages.
Can you use both?
Yes. WHOOP for training, sleep and recovery; Emerge Care for symptoms, side effects and getting ready for appointments. Both read Apple Health.
Questions
Is WHOOP free?
The app is free to download, but it needs the WHOOP band, which comes with a paid membership. New members can try the band and app free for one month (checked 15 October 2026).
How much is a WHOOP membership?
WHOOP lists three US yearly memberships, each with a band: One at $199, Peak at $239 (adds Healthspan, Stress Monitor and Health Monitor) and Life at $359 (adds the WHOOP MG band, ECG and blood pressure insights). Advanced Labs blood tests cost extra, from $199 a year for one test. Prices change, so check WHOOP for today's price.
Can I use WHOOP without the band?
No. WHOOP's scores come from the band, and the band comes with the membership. Emerge Care needs no wearable; it can read Apple Watch data through Apple Health if you have one.
Is WHOOP on Android?
Yes. WHOOP has iPhone and Android apps. Emerge Care is iPhone only.
Where does WHOOP store my data?
In WHOOP's cloud. Its privacy policy says personalization based on your health data is not used for third-party advertising, and WHOOP says only anonymized data is shared with OpenAI for WHOOP Coach. Emerge Care stores your health records and chats on your iPhone.
Does WHOOP track symptoms and medication side effects?
WHOOP has a journal of 160+ habits and behaviors, but we found no dedicated symptom or side-effect log. Emerge Care is built around logging how you feel, in your own words.
Can either app make a summary for my doctor?
Emerge Care builds a one-page visit summary PDF with your questions at the end. We found no visit summary feature in WHOOP. In May 2026 WHOOP announced paid video visits with clinicians for US members.
Can I use WHOOP and Emerge Care together?
Yes. They do different jobs: WHOOP for sleep, strain and recovery, Emerge Care for symptoms, side effects and doctor visits.
