ChatGPT Health is a health space inside ChatGPT. In the US you can connect Apple Health, hospital records, One Medical and Function Health, then ask about your own data. It opened to all US users in July 2026, according to press coverage.
Emerge Care is an iPhone health companion built around the time between appointments: you tell it how you feel, it keeps the log on your phone, answers with named sources, and builds a one-page summary to take to your next visit.

Where Emerge Care is different
Your health records and chats are stored on your iPhone, not on our servers.
Every health fact names its source, and it tells you when there is no trustworthy source.
A symptom and side-effect log you fill in by talking, with check-ins when something keeps coming back.
A one-page visit summary PDF and a running list of questions for your doctor.
Reminders and check-ins that help you keep a new routine after a visit.
In English, Spanish, German, Polish and Russian.
Where ChatGPT Health is stronger
It pulls records directly from US hospital systems, One Medical and Function Health. Emerge Care works from lab reports you upload plus Apple Health.
It is a general assistant that can take almost any follow-up question, on the web as well as iPhone.
There is a free tier.
OpenAI reports building it with feedback from more than 260 physicians.
Can you use both?
Yes. Some people use a general assistant for broad questions and keep their day-to-day symptom log, sources and visit summary in Emerge Care. Neither one diagnoses or replaces your clinician.
Questions
Is ChatGPT Health HIPAA compliant?
ChatGPT Health is a consumer product governed by OpenAI's terms, not a HIPAA-covered service, according to HIPAA Journal and AppleInsider. OpenAI says connected health data is encrypted and not used to train its models.
Does ChatGPT Health use my health data to train its models?
OpenAI says connected records and Apple Health data are not used to train its foundation models or to target ads, according to press coverage of the launch.
Is ChatGPT Health free?
Health is included on the ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans. In the US App Store, Go is $8 and Plus is $19.99 a month (checked 2 October 2026).
Is ChatGPT Health available outside the US?
At its July 2026 rollout it was for US users 18 and over, on the web and iOS, according to press coverage. Check OpenAI for current availability.
Where does Emerge Care store my health data?
Your health records and chats are stored on your iPhone. When you ask a question, the message passes through our server to the AI and back, and that server keeps nothing and logs nothing. We never sell your data.
Does Emerge Care cite its sources?
Yes. Every health fact comes with its source, such as MedlinePlus, Mayo Clinic, the CDC or the NIH. If it can't point to a trustworthy source, it says so instead of guessing.
Can I use Emerge Care and ChatGPT Health together?
Yes. They do different jobs: a general assistant for broad questions, and Emerge Care for your symptom log, sourced answers and the summary you bring to your next visit.
Does either app diagnose or replace my doctor?
No. OpenAI says ChatGPT Health is not designed for diagnosis or treatment. Emerge Care never diagnoses, never replaces your clinician and never promises a result.
